I spruced up my dreary garden with bargains from eBay, Sainsbury’s and a cheap pergola from a little known website

SUMMER is slowly creeping up on us, with some days feeling scorching hot already, while others are a little cooler.

But with the promise of heatwaves on the way, one woman took it upon herself to her garden into tip top shape.

And, taking to the Facebook group DIY Gardening On A Budget Official, she shared several photos of the finished results after nabbing bargains from the likes of Sainsbury's and eBay.

In one photo, she showed off her retractable pergola, which was set over an inviting outdoor lounge.

A rattan corner sofa could be seen in one corner, which featured white cushions and several white and grey patterned pillows on top as well as a grey blanket.

It came with a matching rattan table, which she adorned with candles, and a grey and white outdoor rug underneath.

Next to this, she placed an egg chair and there were several pots and plants that surrounded the entire set up.

She also put fairy lights up around the pergola curtains, which looked incredible in the evening.

In the caption, she told viewers: "I wanted an outside area to spend the summer evenings sitting outside.

"I had all the furniture already, so I bought a cheap retractable roof pergola/gazebo, some cheap solar lights and voile panels, a garden rug and cushions it's absolutely heaven as my garden is so quiet on an evening, we sit out for hours watching tv on the iPad!"

Returning later on, she shared an update on where she got the pergola and other accessories for the outdoor space from.

She wrote: "Thanks everyone for your lovely comments - the pergola was from a website called Alice's Garden and it was £309 a few weeks ago.

"Cushion covers, lights, voile panels and rug were all from eBay. Hanging grey light was from Sainsbury's.

"The furniture was already mine and I have had the big papasan chair since 1998 (it's very comfy)."

She added that her dog's name is Rhubarb and she loves the egg chair.

In the comments, she went on to share that pergolas range from around £300 to thousands before adding: "This one is pretty study. It's shower proof but I cover the cushions over every night as if rains pools in it does drip through…"

Meanwhile, viewers were quick to gush over her garden as one person said: "You’ve created a beautiful haven!" with a heart emoji.

Another wrote: "Looks so peaceful," while a third shared: "Oh my god. This looks amazing!!!"
